FAQs

Explore FAQs to enhance your experience at the Kalamazoo Game Show and enjoy every moment!

Who the heck are you?
We’re a husband-and-wife duo with some serious family backup, turning a wild idea into reality. With a degree in Communications from WMU and extensive experience in business operations, owner Mara knew she had the tools (and the talk) to bring this vision to life. Once combined with Jaxson’s hands-on expertise and our family’s all-in support, Kalamazoo Game Show Experience was born.
We’re proudly family-run, community-driven, and fueled by wayyyy too much caffeine and laughter.

Do you serve food or alcohol?
We do not currently serve any house-made food or alcohol. We do have canned/bottled non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase. Groups are always welcome to bring in their own catering and we have a small "cafe" area to accommodate such. There are also MANY different bars and restaurants right near our studio that we can recommend, as well!

Do you offer any prizes?
Yes and no!
For our general shows, we do not offer any prizes other than bragging rights, a photo with the 1st place trophy, and your signature on our "winner wall". We do have first place medals available for $8 in our lobby area if you would like a physical souvenir.
For private parties booked >2 weeks ahead of time, we offer the option to add prizes for your group, for an additional cost. You are of course always welcome to bring in your own prizes, as well.
We also host various themed special events throughout the year where prizes can be won, which are most often sponsored by other local businesses!

How much does this cost?
Our standard 1-hour shows are $20/participant. Private shows vary depending on the number of people and length of the show. You can find more info on pricing at www.kzoogameshow.com/plan-your-visit.

Are there any physical challenges?
Some of our games do have physical aspects. That said, we always assess and ask about any participant risk factors before we run any physical challenges. We will not run a physical challenge if ALL participants are not able to safely participate.

What is the minimum and maximum number of people that can play at once?
For in-studio shows we have a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 32. For travel shows we have a minimum of 30 and our maximum is indefinite. We have done shows for as many as 300 so far!

What is the difference between a public and private show?
Public shows are open to everyone, meaning you may end up in a show with others outside of your group. Private shows are scheduled to be just your group. Private show times are blocked from our scheduling software so that nobody from the public is able to book during your slot. Private shows are also able to choose what games they play as well as the show rating (G, PG, PG-13, R, X).

Is there a minimum age requirement?
Nope! We can customize our shows to be suitable for any age. If they can read, they can play! However, for public shows, we do recommend ages 12+ simply due to question difficulty.

How many games can you fit in a one-hour show?
Most mash-up shows contain 4-5 games, which is roughly 120 total questions.

What is your fee for traveling?
The cost per participant varies widely based on the number of attendees. Our travel fee $.75/mile round trip from our studio. Schools are the exception to this, as we waive the travel fee for schools within a 20 mile radius.

Can you incorporate questions from my company or organization into a show for us?
Absolutely! Let us know what information you would like us to include and we will be sure to do so. We can use handbooks, brochures, SOPs, anything you have!
